Stigmas and stereotypes are constantly pegging people as one way or another. People are put into social groups and are expected to act a specific way, associate with certain people, and portray themselves as that group would be portrayed. Through this body of work I aimed to question the stigma of what it means to be a "punk".

To create this series, I lived with a punk couple in Gainesville, Florida for three months. This couple, LeAnn and Larsen, proudly consider themselves to be of the punk subculture, which is visibly apparent from their many tattoos and attire. While their appearences and music choice clearly put them into the "punk" category, their lifestyle completely contrasts the typical "punk" person. LeAnn and Larsen live a very natural and holistic lifestyle. They are both massage therapists, avid gardeners, and very passionate about holistic healing.

While living with them I documented their everyday lives. I followed them at work and with their friends, but mainly aimed to capture them doing everyday things in their home. By living with my subjects, I was opened up to a completely different lifestyle that showed me just because people look a certain way, it does not mean they are who you think. They consider themselves "punk", but that does not mean they inherit all of the expected behaviors of that social group. Through my work you are able to see the lives of individuals who care passionately for what they do and each other.
